Chloe Melas is an entertainment reporter for CNN, covering all things entertainment and Hollywood for the network across platforms. Melas is based out of CNN's New York bureau.
Melas' reporting ranges from breaking news and exclusive feature interviews to industry analyses and in-depth investigations, reaching every corner of entertainment at the intersection of culture.
Most recently Melas has covered the fatal shooting that took place on the film set of "Rust." In April, Melas broke the news that criminal charges were being dismissed against actor Alec Baldwin. Melas interviewed Baldwin about the accident in a sit down interview for CNN last year. In November, Melas made headlines for another sit down interview, an exclusive with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. It was Bezos' first formal interview in 4 years. In it he told Melas for the first time that he plans to give away the majority of his wealth during his lifetime.
In 2021 Melas co-hosted CNN's New Year's Eve show alongside Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen from Time's Square. That same year she also co-hosted a one hour CNN special about Britney Spears' conservatorship.
Melas has done countless sit down interviews with celebrities from Steven Spielberg, Hugh Jackman, Natalie Portman, Meek Mill, Naomi Watts, Queen Latifah to newsmakers like Jane Goodall.
At CNN, Melas has also covered the #MeToo era extensively. Her groundbreaking reporting into Kevin Spacey led to his firing from Netflix and from the Sony feature film "All the Money in the World."
In 2019 Melas created and hosted a television series for CNN's HLN "Side Hustle Success," which featured women who turned their hobbies into multi-million dollar businesses.
Prior to joining CNN in 2016, Melas launched HollywoodLife, an entertainment website with Bonnie Fuller under the Penske Media Corporation. In 2013, she served as a co-host of VH1's hit morning show, "The Gossip Table." Melas began her career at CNN as a news assistant in 2008.
In February, Melas published her late grandfather's WWII memoir "Luck of the Draw," which became a New York Time's bestseller.
She has also become outspoken about infertility. Using her platform to share her own family's journey with IVF, her efforts to raise awareness for other families on their own journey's have been covered by People Magazine, Extra, Yahoo! and more. In 2020 she was awarded with Resolve's Hope Award for Advocacy.
Melas has served as a guest lecturer on investigative journalism at Columbia University, and has moderated panels for Time's Up, Women in the World Summit, Create & Cultivate and BlogHer.
Melas holds a degree in broadcast journalism from Auburn University. She grew up in both Dallas, Texas, and Atlanta, Georgia, and currently resides in New York with her husband and two sons.
